Carrier Oils | Pyurvana Best Carrier Oils

100% pure essential oils are highly concentrated and should not be applied directly to your skin. To enjoy the benefits of topical use, you will need to dilute pure essential oils with a carrier oil. Also called base oils, these act as a scent-free vehicle for essential oils. They also provide their own moisturizing benefits for your skin or hair. In addition to being necessary for dilution, carrier oils are key ingredients in many health and beauty recipes.

Why Are Carrier Oils Important?

Diluting essential oils allows you to enjoy their health and beauty benefits without causing damage to your skin. Carrier oils are called this because they carry the pure essential oils and allow them to be absorbed. Besides topical application, these oils are also helpful for evenly distributing essential oils in scent sprays or if you want to add them to your bath. Carrier oils can also be used on their own and each one has specific benefits.

Can You Mix Carrier Oils?

You can mix different carrier oils and this can be helpful to find a blend that matches your specific needs. This works especially well when it comes to texture. You can try different amounts of each carrier oil to find a blend that you like best.

How to Dilute Essential Oils

In order to dilute 100% pure essential oils, you should mix them with your preferred carrier oil(s). If you plan to store the mixture, make sure to keep it in a glass container. We recommend using three drops of essential oil in one teaspoon of carrier oil for massage blends. Three drops of essential oil in four teaspoons of carrier oil is our suggested dilution for any facial application. You can also use a lower concentration depending on your skin’s sensitivity.
